[Updates] Elon Musk found a new reason not to buy Twitter

Update News : Paying compensation to a former Twitter security specialist has become another reason for Elon Musk not to acquire a social network, writes Reuters. According to his lawyers, Twitter representatives did not receive consent from the businessman for these actions, although this clause was spelled out in the contract.

Reporters claim that Twitter paid $7.75 million to ex-security chief Peter Zatko. The potential acquirer of the social network, Elon Musk, was not notified of this decision. By doing so, the company violated the merger agreement, which limited such payments. In this regard, Musk’s lawyers said that he is not required to complete the deal to acquire Twitter.

At the end of April, Musk entered into an agreement with Twitter to acquire it for $44 billion. The deal was supposed to close before the end of 2022, but on July 9, the billionaire abandoned it . Musk said the company violated the terms of the agreement by pointing out that the social network did not provide information about fake accounts and spam bots.

In response to this, Twitter management sued the entrepreneur to complete the deal. In turn, Musk filed a counterclaim. The billionaire accused the leadership of Twitter of fraudulent activities and distortion of key indicators.
